Human Resources Generalist

Phoenix Investors is seeking an experienced and highly organized Human Resources (HR) Generalist to support the full employee lifecycle across multiple business entities and locations. This role serves as a key resource for employees and managers, partnering closely with leadership to administer recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, payroll support, compliance, performance management, and HR operations. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, sound judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Coordinate and manage full-cycle recruiting activities for a variety of corporate, construction, property management, and skilled trades positions
  • Partner with hiring managers to develop job descriptions, interview guides, and candidate evaluation tools
  • Review resumes, conduct phone screens, coordinate interviews, and facilitate candidate communications
  • Prepare offer letters and complete pre-employment screening processes
  • Lead new hire onboarding, orientation, and employee integration activities
  • Coordinate IT, facility, and equipment setup for new employees

Employee Relations & HR Support

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, benefits, payroll, and employment practices
  • Support employee relations matters by gathering information, conducting investigations, and maintaining appropriate documentation
  • Assist managers with performance management, corrective action, and employee development initiatives
  • Promote employee engagement and help foster a positive workplace culture 

Benefits & Leave Administration

  • Assist with administration of health, dental, vision, life, disability, and wellness programs
  • Coordinate employee enrollments, changes, and terminations within benefit plans
  • Administer leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers’ compensation, and other state and federal leave requirements
  • Educate employees regarding benefit offerings and available resources

Compliance & HR Operations

  • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Support multi-state HR compliance efforts, including onboarding, payroll-related requirements, labor law postings, and employment documentation
  • Prepare and maintain HR reports, audits, and compliance records
  • Assist with employee handbook updates, policies, procedures, and HR forms
  • Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive employee information

Payroll & Employment Administration

  • Coordinate employee status changes, promotions, transfers, compensation updates, and terminations
  • Partner with payroll to ensure accurate employee data and timely processing
  • Process payroll as a backup for the Payroll Specialist
  • Support employment verification requests and unemployment claim responses
  • Assist with offboarding processes, final pay requirements, and exit interviews

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in special HR projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field preferred
  • 3+ years of human resources experience are required
  • Experience supporting recruiting, employee relations, benefits administration, payroll, and HR compliance
  • Multi-state HR experience is preferred

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization
