Accounting Assistant

Phoenix Investors, a national commercial real estate company based in Milwaukee, WI seeks an organized, diligent, and responsible Accounting Assistant to add to our talented team. In the Accounting Assistant position, you will interact daily with our Accounting Supervisor, vendors, and construction team to assist with properly routing, coding, and posting accounts payable; maintaining our lien waiver filing system; and handling basic accounting duties and administrative functions, including special ad hoc projects.

  • Manage the Yardi dashboard for construction invoices.
  • Assist vendors and construction staff via telephone and email.
  • Review and ensure payables have accurate GL codes and proper approvals
  • Manage a bot that generates our lien waivers.
  • Maintain the lien waiver filing system.
  • Coordinate and dispatch checks to vendors.
  • Assist with vendor payment inquiries for the construction division.
  • Contribute to exploring new processes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Act as backup to the Accounting Analysts when needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Solid understanding of accounting concepts.
  • Excellent math skills.
  • Customer-service oriented; interested in developing and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize and balance the completion of several tasks; self-motivated.
  • Strong attention to detail and a positive attitude; willing and eager to learn new skills.
  • Prior experience with an accounting ERP is preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience with Yardi is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills; candidates will be required to interface with internal and external stakeholders (property managers, construction personnel, vendors, tenants, etc.).
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment and possess a strong work ethic.
