Data Center Site Selection Analyst

The Data Center Site Selection Analyst supports the evaluation of new data center locations by assisting with real estate research, utility assessments, basic electrical analysis, access to fiber, and other resources. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who wants to grow into data center development, power engineering, or infrastructure strategy. You’ll work closely with senior team members, real estate professionals, and utility partners to gather data, perform analysis, and contribute to the technical and strategic decision-making process.

Site Selection & Real Estate Support

  • Source and research potential data center locations, including zoning, land use, environmental constraints, and nearby infrastructure.
  • Assist with due diligence tasks such as collecting survey data, reviewing environmental reports, and tracking permitting requirements.
  • Compile market data on land pricing, tax incentives, and regional development trends.
  • Prepare comparison summaries and basic financial models for candidate sites.
  • Support communication with landowners, brokers, municipalities, and the internal real estate team.

High Voltage & Utility Support

  • Gather and review utility information such as available electrical high-voltage capacity, substation locations, and transmission line proximity.
  • Assist engineers in evaluating power reliability, redundancy, and interconnection feasibility.
  • Help interpret one-line diagrams, utility maps, and basic electrical engineering documents.
  • Track utility timelines, cost estimates, studies, and technical requirements.
  • Support documentation for high‑voltage equipment, substations, and on-site power systems.

Data Center Infrastructure Analysis

  • Collect data on fiber routes, carrier availability, and network connectivity.
  • Assist with evaluating cooling, water availability, and sustainability considerations for potential sites.
  • Help maintain internal databases and tools used for site evaluation.
  • Prepare presentations and reports summarizing findings for leadership.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with senior team members across engineering, real estate, construction, and sustainability.
  • Participate in meetings with utilities and local agencies as a supporting contributor.
  • Help coordinate information flow between internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, geography, real estate, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • A willingness to travel for property tours, market visits, and critical meetings
  • Basic understanding of electrical power systems (transmission, distribution, substations)
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, diagrams, and technical documents with guidance
  • Proficiency with MS Office and a willingness to learn GIS or new mapping tools
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship or project experience related to utilities, data centers, real estate, or infrastructure
  • An interest in data center development, renewable energy, or large-scale infrastructure
  • Office-based with travel for site evaluations and utility meetings
  • Cross-functional collaboration with real estate, engineering, and finance teams
