POSITION OVERVIEW

Phoenix Investors, a national commercial real estate company based in Milwaukee, WI, seeks an organized, diligent, and responsible Accounting Assistant to add to our talented team. As an Accounting Assistant, you will assist in managing customer accounts and accounts receivable, while also handling basic accounting duties.

  • Help explain invoices to customers to keep our receivable accounts current
  • Communicate with customers and business partners via telephone and email
  • Prepare aging customer statements and other ad-hoc reports
  • Enter invoices and ensure appropriate late fees and interest are entered into YARDI for overdue accounts
  • Assist legal department in issuing demand letters as necessary
  • Ensure accuracy of customer ledgers
  • Analyze variances, review ledger details, and record adjusting entries on customer accounts
  • Assist in year-end audits/reviews
  • Respond to tenant requests for invoices and statements; answer billing questions
  • Manage AR inbox by directing emails to the correct departments
  • Assist with account reconciliation as needed
  • Contribute to exploring new processes to drive continuous improvement
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Minimum 2-year accounting or finance degree is desirable
  • Intermediate MS Excel skills
  • Solid understanding of accounting concepts
  • Ability to prioritize and balance completion of several tasks; self-motivated
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills; this position will be required to interface with internal and external stakeholders (property managers, legal, tenants, etc.).
  • Team player with desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to seek information and problem solve; willing and eager to learn new skills
  • Resilient “can do” attitude and enthusiasm to drive and innovate our process
  • Prior experience with YARDI a plus
